The Delhi government polytechnics department will soon roll out degree programmes in affiliation with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU).

From the coming academic session, students can opt for bachelor's programmes such as B. Sc. (Interior Designing), BBA (Office Management) and BBA (Sports Management) at select government polytechnic colleges.

"The government polytechnics have a lot of infrastructure that is being used to run only diploma courses. So some of the courses will be upgraded to degree courses," said Suchitra Kumar, Joint Registrar (Affiliations) at GGSIP University. "We will improve upon the syllabus and affiliate the courses," Kumar said.

Apart from these, the University also announced a slew of new courses that will begin from the next academic year.

"We will begin a two-year weekend course in Master of Journalism and Mass Communication under the Centre for Media Studies, with an intake of 45 students," announced D. K. Bandyopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, GGSIPU.

The university will also begin two M. Tech courses in Mathematics and Computing and Digital Wireless Communication.
