President Pratibha Patil on Monday released a commemorative postage stamp to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Lala Lakshmipat Singhania, the key architect of one of the India's largest business houses JK Organisation.
The stamp was released in a glittering ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Singhania, who believed in the philosophy of inclusive growth encompassing all sections of the society, has been hailed for building industrial landscape for a modern India.
Even at a time when the Indian industry was in its infancy stage, Singhania considered management skills essential for it and the economy to grow. "Lala Lakshmipat Singhania had a strong belief that economic freedom of the country was as important as political freedom. He started several new industrial ventures, making many products in India for the first time which were otherwise imported.
He was committed to societal and nation building agenda," said Hari Shankar Singhania, the current president of JK group.
