Power demand in the city on Friday touched 5265 mega watt (MW), the highest of this summer. "The maximum power demand was recorded at 5265 MW on Friday. The maximum demand in the city had reached an all-time high of 5,028 MW last summer and it is projected to reach 5,500 MW this year," said a senior power department official.
According to power department official, if the weather continues to be so hot, the power demand may rise further and cross the 5500 MW.
The power department said today's demand was successfully. Power distribution companies also claimed there was no shortfall and no load-shedding. However, some areas faced power cuts due to local faults.
