Leaders of the opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, met leader of the house Pranab Mukherjee in Lok Sabha on Monday, days before the winter session of parliament kick off.
Swaraj told reporters that it was a routine meeting normally held between the government and the opposition before every parliament session
"It was a cordial meeting… He's a senior leader and the leader of the House. There was no talk on specific issues," she said.
This comes two days ahead of Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar's all-party meeting, which is expected to see further discussions on the conduct of parliament in the coming session.
UPA constituents are also expected to have meetings before the session.
Sources said the Opposition has not assured a smooth conduct of parliament, but there is a perception that with crucial issues like the lokpal bill, food security bill, land acquisition bill, real estate bill etc pending for consideration, parliament may well take up some serious discussion this session.
