Before filing his nomination papers next week, UPA’s presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee will offer a special puja to his family deity. He will also seek the blessings of his elder brother and sister at the ancestral home in West Bengal’s Kirnahar village.
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and key ally leaders like NCP chief Sharad Pawar are likely to be present when finance minister Pranab Mukherjee files his nomination papers next week.
The finance minister, meanwhile, met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Tuesday who treated him with kheer and fish fry.
Meanwhile, the DMK leadership has already started preparations for Mukherjee’s visit to Chennai on June 30.
TR Balu called up Mukherjee’s office to enquire about his food preferences. He was told to only arrange fruits as Mukherjee avoids sumptuous meals on Saturdays.
