A major fire broke out in a printing press at Patparganj in east Delhi on Thursday afternoon. Though no causality was reported, property worth lakhs was damaged.
According to a fire department officer, fire broke out at a printing press-cum-plastic factory located at plot number B/388 at Patparganj in Madhu Vihar.
"We received a call at 2:45pm from the Patparganj industrial area. Three fire-tenders were rushed to spot immediately," said a senior fire official.
"However, later we had to rush in more fire tenders. In all, total 23 fire tenders could douse the blaze at 4:35 pm," said a senior fire official.
Over 25 labourers had been working in the factory at the time of the fire. However, all of them managed to escape.
The fire department is yet to ascertain the exact reason for the fire. But initial investigation suggests short circuit in a generator could be the reason. Ravi Kochhar, who is the owner of the factory and lives in Anand Vihar, is being questioned by the police.
