Property dealer found dead in Palam Vihar

delhi Updated: Oct 08, 2008 00:51 IST

A 32-year-old property dealer was found dead in his house with multiple stab wounds on Tuesday morning.

Police suspect Hari Om Rana was killed by people known to him. They added that the crime scene suggests that the victim and his killer(s) had liquor together in Rana’s Palam Vihar house.

Rana’s father Rampal Rana found his partially naked body in a pool of blood in the bathroom the next morning. Rana’s wife Anju and six-year-old daughter Bharti were away to her in-law’s house in Bajgera village in Gurgaon. The victim was to join his family on Tuesday.

“I met my son on Monday when I went to leave his dinner tiffin around 10.00 p.m. I also called him up at 10.30 p.m. to remind him of the dinner. He said he was watching television and would have it later. At 6.00 a.m. today I called on his mobile phone but received no reply. After that I decided to visit him. I found his body in the bathroom,” he said.

According to the police Rana had bought the A-block house about 4-5 months back. He was probably visited by 4-5 persons known to him on Monday night and they had drinks together, police said.

“We have found a liquor bottle, a few soda water bottles, glasses and other food items from the drawing room. It looks that there were about 4-5 persons with whom he could have an altercation and they attacked him with knives. There were multiple stab wounds near his heart and stomach,”the police officials said.

The police have ruled out robbery as a motive.
