The body of a 36-year-old property dealer was found inside his car under mysterious circumstances in west Delhi's Rajouri Garden on Friday morning.
Police sources said Praveen Singh allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his rented accommodation in Uttam Nagar on Wednesday night.
He lived with his alleged girlfriend, who reportedly kept his body in his car on Thursday evening with the help of two friends.
Sources added that they then parked the car at an isolated place in Rajouri Garden after doctors at a private hospital pronounced him brought dead.
A senior police officer said they have detained the girl who was in a live-in relation with Singh for the past few months and are questioning them to know why she did not inform the police about his death.
"Singh, a resident of Samaspur village in Najafgarh, was found dead inside his Alto car in the parking lot of BK-10 market in Rajouri Garden around 11.30am," said the police officer adding that Singh was married and has three children.
His family members were unaware of his extra-marital affair.
During the investigation, the police scanned the footage of the CCTV cameras installed outside the rented flat that showed the three placing the body inside the car.
"Further investigations revealed that Singh was living in the flat with his girlfriend. We traced the girl and her questioning revealed the entire story," added the officer.
"The reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained. It will be too early to say anything before the arrival of the autopsy report," said V Renganathan, additional CP (west).
