A 24-year-old property dealer was shot by an unidentified assailant in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area on Sunday night, police said.

The incident was reported around 8pm when the victim, identified as JP Bhardwaj, was participating in a religious ceremony and is understood to have been surrounded by at least a hundred people.

“There was a religious ceremony taking place at an empty plot in Prem Nagar, which was owned by Bharadwaj, when the assailant fired a shot at him and ran away. He was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.

Police have registered a case at the Aman Vihar Police Station and are investigating the matter.
