The Qutub Festival, Delhi’s eagerly awaited musical extravaganza that announces the arrival of the winters in the most melodious way, will kick off on November 15.
The five-day music-and-cultural festival will have popular Bollywood singers Shaan, Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal and Mohit Chauhan performing for Delhiites. Well-known Pakistani sufi singer Arif Lohar is another name in the list. Day One of the event will also have the performance of the Astitva Band.
An annual feature in Delhi's cultural calendar, the Qutub Festival is jointly organised by the Delhi government’s art and culture and languages department, Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation and Punjabi Academy.
The event is a part of the ongoing Delhi Celebrates, a six-month-long celebration of the rich and composite culture of India and the national Capital.
The festival is organised on the lawns of Qutub Minar with the towering stone structure in the backdrop, which gives it a unique character. The festival initially focussed on Sufi and classical music and dance but the organisers now keep it more contemporary to attract people to come and enjoy the musical evenings.
“Qutub Festival has always evoked euphoria in the people of Delhi. This festival will showcase a different musical marvel every day,” said an official.
