The Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Friday at the end of the budget session of Parliament that started on February 22.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the house sine die after the members, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley and Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan recalled contribution of 51 members who will retire over the next three months.

The budget session of parliament was conducted in two parts. In the first part, sittings were held from February 22 to March 16 and in the second part from April 15 to May 7.

The two houses were in recess from March 17 to April 14 to enable the department related standing committees examine the demands for grants relating to various ministries.
