A rapist-cum-kidnapper facing a possible life term as maximum punishment has escaped with a six-month jail term with the victim turning his saviour by marrying him and pleading to the court to take a lenient view against him for her sake.

Additional Sessions Judge Nisha Saxena imposed milder punishment on Vishnu from Rajasthan taking into account the victim's pleadings that he realised the enormity of his crime as she began weeping after her rape and he instantly decided to marry her to atone for his crime. The judge also took into account her pleas that she was not only married to him now but also had a son out of the wedlock while her in-laws love her and she does not want another trauma in her life.
