The Generation Next of the Congress has expressed its desire to work under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
“We are ready to work under Rahulji’s leadership in the struggle for economic emancipation of the people,” said union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, speaking on the economic resolution at the party’s 83rd plenary.
Party colleagues Sachin Pilot and Deepinder Singh Hooda also echoed his views. “The youth of the country are ready to work under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi,” Pilot said.
Scindia’s suggestions that those who leave the party should not be taken back before the mandatory six years and decentralisation of ticket distribution caught the attention of everyone, including Rahul.
“Ganesh parikrama should end. People should not visit Delhi for tickets,” he said.
Scindia also stressed the need for giving more respect to party workers and standing firmly behind them in the opposition-ruled states.
Later, Rahul and Scindia were seen chatting with each other for about 20 minutes. Gandhi also exchanged some notes with Pilot.
Earlier, home minister P Chidambaram likened Rahul to his father Rajiv Gandhi. “If you closed your eyes and heard his speech, you would have thought it was Rajiv Gandhi speaking 25 years ago,” he said.
Chidambaram also said Rahul reflected his father's views about disconnect between the people and the government, which needs to be changed.
