A 25-year-old property dealer was abducted from Uttam Nagar, drugged in Rohini, and brutally murdered in Noida allegedly by his cousin who suspected victim of having an affair with his married sister, police said on Saturday.
The accused also involved his brother-in-law in his plan, as the latter had also developed a grudge against the victim for having an affair with his wife. The deceased, Rakesh Kumar, lived with his wife and parents in west Delhi's Om Vihar, Uttam Nagar.
The police on Saturday arrested the accused, identified as Ramanand Kumar, cousin of the deceased, and Deepak Kumar, brother-in-law of Ramanand. While Ramanand is a lab technician at a Delhi government-run hospital, Deepak, a resident of Sector 44, Noida, runs a carton manufacturing unit in Noida.
The sensational case came to light on Thursday evening after Kumar's body was discovered from a drain by the Noida police, which registered a case of murder and concealing evidence at Sector 39 police station. Since the identity of the deceased was not known, the Noida police had preserved the body in mortuary at the district hospital, said a senior police officer.
V Renganathan, additional CP (west), said the police had registered a case of abduction at the Vikaspuri police station on the complaint filed by Kumar's family on Thursday.
During investigation, Renganathan said, it was learnt that the victim was last seen with Ramanand with whom he had left his house in his Mahindra XUV car. Ramanand was detained and during sustained interrogation he confessed that he, along with Deepak, killed his cousin and dumped his body in Noida. At his instance, Deepak was also arrested, said Renganathan.
"On the pretext of consuming liquor, Ramanand took Kumar to Deepak's bungalow in Noida and from there they came to Avantika area in Rohini where they got him drunk heavily. Later they again drove him to Noida, stabbed him to death and dumped his body there," the additional CP said.
"Ramanand suspected Kumar of having an illicit affair with his sister. Ramanand had warned Kumar several times to stay away from his sister. But when Kumar did not mend his ways, he planned to kill him and included Deepak in his plan," said Renganathan, adding they are in the process of getting the case transferred to Delhi from Noida.
