New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah on Friday said his portfolio had a larger profile than his own and promised to create awareness about the potential that India held in the use of clean energy sources.
"This ministry is a challenge. I take this challenge head on," Abdullah told reporters here, brushing aside suggestions that the portfolio given to him lacked the profile worthy of a former chief minister.
"In my opinion, no profile is big or small. It is just a perception of people. If you ask me, I am small for new and renewable energy ministry. This portfolio is bigger than me," said the minister.
He said his immediate task on hand was to promote the use of new, renewable and non-conventional energy sources in the country. "I will personally go to every state and tell them what this ministry is all about," he said.
"I am happy to be given a portfolio that will go on to benefit our future generations."
