Residents, students protest in NCR cities

Residents in the NCR town took our marches on Tuesday, demanding stringent punishment to the accused in the Delhi gangrape case.

Over 200 girl students from Gurgaon, Sector 14 Government Girls College lit candles in the college premises. They were led by the college principal Ashok Deevakar. Students of the private IILM college also took out a candle march from Iffco Chowk to MG Road. Another march was taken out by residents of Greenwood City from their gated locality to MG Road.

In Ghaziabad, the protesters urged police to call a drive against eve-teasers. A protester in the guise of Santa Claus asked the people to respect women. Anu Sharma, a resident of Vasundhara sector 19 said, "Instead of acting tough on crime against women, policemen are beating up the protesters. We will continue to raise our voice till the victim of gangrape gets justice."

In Kaushambi, women protesters distributed 'Mirchi Spray' to the girls of the area. They said the RWA will organise free self defence training classes for girls. Residents have also demanded enhanced patrolling during winters.
