Nearly 10 days after a Delhi Police constable was killed in a suspected road rage case, two accused have been arrested in Meerut while another surrendered in Baghpat.
According to police, all the accused have criminal pasts and had a fight with Delhi police team, which had gone for a raid in Meerut on May 15.
"Meerut police have arrested Abhishek and Arun while another accused - Shakeel - has surrendered in Baghpat. Zakir who was also involved in the crime is absconding," a senior officer of Delhi Police said.
On May 15, the criminals shot dead head constable Sanjeev Malik near village Patahnpur of Kankerkhera police station. Constable Sachin who sustained bullet injuries on his knee is still recuperating.
The cops posted with the special staff unit of South Delhi district had gone to conduct raids near Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh and were returning to Delhi, when constable Sachin suggested the police party to take rest for a while at his native village Pepla.
Recalling the incident, a Delhi Police officer said that while on their way to village Pepla, police party saw a Santro car parked in the middle of the road. When cops scolded the person on wheel and asked him to park the car properly, the occupants started firing. Two bullets hit the head constable on his chest while Sachin sustained bullet injuries on his knees.
