A 25-year-old man was shot at and the car he was driving snatched by two men in Dwarka in southwest Delhi in the early hours on Sunday.
The robbers also pushed the man out of the moving car in Dwarka's Sector 8.
Police said the incident was reported around 12.30 am on Sunday when Sukhpal was on his way to deliver a new Maruti Alto car to a dealer in Samaipur Badli in northwest Delhi.
“Sukhpal was coming from Gurgaon. He said when he reached Sector 1 in Dwarka, two men stopped his car and asked for a lift. When he refused, they forced themselves in,” said K Jagadeshan, DCP (southwest).
Police said when the driver resisted their attempts to snatch the car they shot him on his arms. One of the splinters hit him in the chest.
“He had three bullet injuries but doctors recovered only one bullet from his body. He told us that the man sitting on the rear seat opened fire on him,” said the DCP.
A passerby found a bleeding Sukhpal on the road in Sector 8 and informed a PCR.
He was then taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital (DDU) where he is recuperating currently.
Police said they have recorded the driver's statement and have begun investigation.
“He has given us some details about the appearance of the robbers,” said the officer.
A case of robbery has been registered at Dwarka police station.
