Rs1 lakh robbed from Mayur Vihar house
Burglars broke into a house in Mayur Vihar Phase-III and decamped with jewellery and cash worth Rs1 lakh on Tuesday night.
Burglars broke into a house in Mayur Vihar Phase-III and decamped with jewellery and cash worth Rs1 lakh on Tuesday night. TK Ramanan, who works in a private company and stays with his wife and daughter in pocket C-1 of Mayur Vihar Phase III, was sleeping at the time of the incident.
The burglary came to light early on Tuesday. “I woke up early and discovered the theft. The front door was locked from outside and the back door was open. I immediately called up the police,” said TK Ramanan.
The burglars took away two suitcases, one mobile phone and some cash.
This is not the first time a burglary has been reported from this area. Earlier too, many such cases have happened in the locality. Proximity to semi-urban pockets like Trilokpuri, Kondli and Gharoli has made Mayur Vihar-Phase III a sitting duck for criminals.
“Our area is crime-prone. Every night. I check the doors before sleeping. Last night I went to sleep at 1am. I was sleeping in the front room and my wife and daughter were in another room. We don’t know when this happened,” said Ramanan.
The almirahs were ransacked and the locker broken. The burglars also took away some important documents. A suitcase was recovered from a nearby park in the morning. “The thieves were so desperate that they even took away my shirts,” he added.
Police said they have taken the fingerprints from the spot and are questioning few suspects. “We are investigating the case and statements of victims have been taken,” Prabhakar, DCP (east) said.
A case of burglary has been registered and investigations are on.
