The RSS and the BJP on Thursday distanced themselves from KS Sudarshan’s remarks. RSS said the views were not that of the organisation.

“The RSS has noted with concern reports in a section of the media attributing it to former Sangh Sanghchalak KS Sudarshan. However, those are not the opinions of the RSS,” spokesperson Ram Madhav said.

He said the RSS has never discussed such matters (contents of Sudarshan’s remarks) at any time or at any level, nor does it possess any such information.

The BJP too distanced itself from Sudarshan’s statement, saying Gandhi was an elected representative and should be treated with respect.

“As a democratically elected leader she (Gandhi) should be respected,” BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay said.
