In yet another development in the Ruchi Buttan death case, the Haryana DGP office has transferred the matter to the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Ambala from Gurgaon police on Tuesday.

The case file has also been sent to Ambala for further investigation.

The victim’s family had earlier blamed the authorities for keeping them in the dark as the police officials were not willing to inform them about the progress in the case. Ruchi Bhuttan had allegedly committed suicide on July 5 after a fight with her husband, Sumit Bhuttan, over his illicit relationship with Meera Chopra, cousin of a Bollywood actress.

Earlier too, the Gurgaon police had withdrawn the dowry death charges against Sumit, the main accused in the case, and had converted it to abetment of suicide.

Sumit runs a share brokerage firm in Delhi, and is presently lodged in the Gurgaon jail.
