Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal’s indefinite fast against inflated water and power bills on Thursday completed its sixth day amid speculation about whether or not anti-graft activist Anna Hazare will meet his former lieutenant on Friday.

At the fast venue in the Sundar Nagari slum redevelopment colony in northeast Delhi, a medical team said Kejriwal’s vital parameters were normal. “On Thursday morning, his blood pressure was 120/74, pulse was 66 and sugar was 106. The level of ketones has come down from +4 to +3, however, he has lost 6 kgs since March 23, when his fast began,” the team said.

Before embarking on his fast, Kejriwal had gone to meet Hazare at Ralegan Siddhi (Maharashtra) and announced that the latter would see him during the fast. Hazare in turn, on March 21 in Delhi, had made it clear that he would neither be part of any political party nor share any stage with Kejriwal. “I may go if I have time,” was all that he had said when asked if he would meet Kejriwal on his way to Amritsar on March 29.

“It is not yet confirmed, what time Anna will reach Delhi tomorrow,” Hazare’s aide told HT from his village.

“We have not yet received any message from him (Hazare),” said Manish Sisodia, AAP spokesperson.

Earlier, Kejriwal spoke to the media and addressed supporters and took rest for the remaining time in an effort to conserve energy. “Ye ladai man se dar nikalne ke liye hai (This is a fight to discard fear from one’s mind),” he told reporters.

“I am perfectly fine and I will continue this fight against inflated bijli-paani bills, till the people of Delhi quit fear and are united,” Kejriwal said.
AAP has been able to garner support of approximately 2.75 lakh power and water consumers to pledge that they would not pay these bills, officials claimed.
