The police have arrested a 27-year-old Russian woman for allegedly creating a scene in a drunken condition at Hotel Ashok in Chanakyapuri on Thursday night. She was arrested for staying illegally in the country.

Later, the police found that the woman, Aynur Gylychmammedoba was living in India illegally and was then booked under Foreigners Act. "She was creating chaos and nuisance inside the premises of Hotel Ashoka, after which hotel staff called the police.

We took her to a hospital for medical examination, which showed she was under the influence of alcohol," said a

senior police officer on condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

The police became suspicious when they asked her to show her passport and she refused, allegedly claiming that her passport was lost. The police then called the Russian embassy to know about her.

According to police, the embassy officer told them that Aynur had come India in June 1998 and since then, she had been living in the capital and her visa had expired a few years ago.

"We have booked her for living in India without a valid visa and passport. Now, she has been sent to Tihar Jail. We will soon question her again," added the officer. The police said that she would be deported to Russia after getting the final report from the Russian Embassy.
