RWAs protest DND Flyway toll hike

Even as the Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL) hiked the toll on DND Flyway by 10%, the resident welfare associations (RWAs) have come out against the decision. HT reports.

On Monday, the federation of RWAs held a meeting and decided to meet the Noida authority CEO, Balvinder Kumar, asking him to make DND a toll-free road. Various bodies of traders and NGOs also participated in the meeting. They will carry out a signature campaign on Tuesday to put pressure on the authority. Ran Singh, a resident of Greater Noida, has already moved to a local court, seeking DND be handed over to the authority.

According to the new tarriffs, from November 1 midnight, a car will have to pay Rs 22 instead of the current Rs 20. The toll bridge company has made some arrangements to avoid chaos once the new rates are implemented.

"We're deploying additional staff. We will also issue cash coupons so that regular commuters can avoid transactions," said an official.
