Sanskrit Vidyapeeth employee shot dead

Unidentified armed assailants in Neb Sarai shot dead an ADC in the education department near his residence on Thursday.

The incident took place when the deceased, Naveen Rawat, was returning home with his mother and relatives after attending a wedding. Rawat died on the spot.

Police said Rawat was an ADC in Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in Janakpuri. The incident took place around 10.30 pm.

Local residents rushed to the spot and police was also informed. Rawat was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead.

Rawat lived at A-113 in Raju Park area in Khanpur with his family. Rawat is survived by his wife, a four-year-old daughter, mother, father, younger sister and brothers Dalbir and Darpan. Rawat’s father, Daya Singh, works in private company.

The family has ruled out any personal enmity. “The body has been sent for post-mortem. He was shot on his forehead from the left side. Prima facie it seems to be a case of personal enmity. We are probing the matter. The deceased’s family’s statement has been recorded. We are scanning the deceased’s call details. A case has been registered and investigation is on,” said a senior police officer.
