A day after his brother was arrested, Rakesh Yadav, the main accused in the Hyatpur sarpanch killing case, was held along with two of his associates in Narnaul near the Rajasthan border on Thursday.
The city police have also nabbed three others who were allegedly involved in the murder — Ajay Kumar from Bihar and Vikram from Najafgarh in Delhi were the hired shooters while Ajit is a resident of Hyatpur.
According to Alok Mittal, joint commissioner of police, a Swift Dzire car was recovered from Rakesh's possession while two countrymade pistols and 20 live cartridges were found from Vikram and Ajay.
“We will produce all the accused in the district court on Friday. On Thursday, the main accused's brother Sanjay Manda was produced in city court and sent to seven days in police remand,” said Mittal, adding that several police teams were hunting the accused and they were finally arrested.
Hyatpur village sarpanch Rakesh was shot dead by two assailants on June 24.
Violence and chaos followed as a mob burnt alive one of the gunmen.
According to the police, the sarpanch had a feud with the alleged mastermind following a water dispute and the latter allegedly hired two contract killers to eliminate him.
