The body of a 22-year- old computer scrap dealer was found stuffed in a sack in East of Kailash in south-east Delhi on Friday morning. The victim, Faheem Malik, who owned a scrap shop in Prakash Mohalla of East of Kailash, was missing since Thursday evening and his body was found in a sack at around 7am on Friday.
“Initial investigations suggest that Malik was strangled to death with an electric wire. It seems, he had a dispute with a co-worker or a friend.
We are examining his phone call details,” a senior police officer said.
“He was with us till 8pm on Thursday. He got a call and suddenly left for some work. His father called him at 9pm but someone else answered the phone. This got him (his father) worried and asked us to check,” said Saleem, with whom Malik was living.
Malik, a resident of Muzzafarnagar in Uttar Pradesh had come to Delhi two years ago in search of work.
“He used to call his father Abbu. On Friday night, when his father made a routine call, someone else answered the call and addressed him as papa instead of Abbu. After that, his phone was switch off. We suspected a foul play and started looking for him,” added Saleem.
The family came to know about Malik’s death when some relatives told them that a body was found in East of Kailash.
“Some relatives told us that a body stuffed in a sack is lying near gate No 5 of D block. We rushed to the spot. His wallet and mobile phone were missing,” said Naushad, Malik’s relative.
