A 29-year-old married woman has accused a senior official of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) of raping her, police said on Wednesday.
Acting on her complaint, the police filed an FIR at the Vasant Kunj South police station and arrested the accused, identified as one Neshram, 55.
Police said the accused is posted as under secretary with the Staff Selection Commission and was arrested on Monday after the woman and her husband registered a complaint with the police.
“Neshram was known to the victim’s husband, who works at the Delhi airport. The accused frequented their house and had assured the woman of a job in the SSC to obtain proximity,” said a police official.
Neshram hails from Maharashtra and lives with his family in Vasant Kunj area. The incident took place when his wife and children were on a visit to Maharashtra.
“On Monday afternoon, Neshram reached the victim’s house when her husband was away and allegedly forced himself upon her,” claimed a police official.
The officer said when the victim’s husband returned home, she told him about the incident. After this, both them approached the police to register a complaint.
A medical examination of the victim confirmed rape after which the accused was arrested.
Neshram was produced before a local court that sent him to 14 days judicial custody.
