The spate in rape cases in the national Capital continued unabated with two more incidents of sexual assaults being reported from separate parts of Delhi.
A seven-year-old girl was raped by her father's friend in Outer Delhi's Sultanpuri area on Tuesday night. According to police, the accused - Mahesh Yadav - visited her house to meet her father.
"When Mahesh got there, the girl's father was out for some work and she was sleeping. Yadav assaulted the minor girl and fled. When the victim's father returned, she narrated the whole incident to him," said a senior police officer said.
The girl's father informed the police and a medical examination was conducted, which confirmed rape. However, Yadav remained untraceable. "He has been identified and we will arrest him soon," the officer added.
In another incident, a 21-year-old woman was kidnapped and raped by her friend.
The woman's friend also allegedly filmed the act to blackmail and prevent her from reporting the matter to the police.
According to police, the accused, identified as Satish, was miffed over his advances being rejected by the girl.
"Satish, along with his two friends, kidnapped the girl and took her to Bahadurgarh in Haryana. There he raped her and videographed the act. The victim managed to escape and reached her house in Mundka, West Delhi," said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
After a medical examination of the victim confirmed sexual assault, a case of rape was registered at the Mundka police station. Satish and his friends are untraceable.
Between January 1 and March 31, 393 cases of rape were reported in the Capital. The corresponding figure for last year was 152.
