For more than 250 students of DU's External Cell, their annual exam on Monday turned out to be a nightmare. A large number of BA Programme students failed to turn up on time as the time of the exam was not mentioned on the admit card.
The extra sheet that arrives along with the admit card and indicates time and rules was not attached to the admit cards of many students. "All our exams had been scheduled at 3pm in the afternoon. This was the only paper to be scheduled for morning. I did not know and came at 3pm to find that the exam was long over," said Sudhir Kumar, whose exam centre was Hindu College.
At Hindu College where 180 students were supposed to give the exam, only 60 turned up on time.
The examination cell of the university has meanwhile stated that the information regarding the timing of the paper had been posted online. "We will still try out best to help these students, but it is a difficult job," said an exam department official.
Dean, Examination, RC Sharma said that he was not aware of the issue as he had been out of town. MM Rehman, officer on special duty, could not be contacted despite several calls and messages.
Nearly 80 students, who missed the exam, have written to the examination cell demanding a re-exam. If this does not materialise, students will have to appear in the exam in November.
