With investigators yet to decide their line of investigation in the brutal murder of an elderly couple in east Delhi's Shakarpur, police on Friday questioned some local property dealers in the case.
According to sources, the step to question property dealers was taken by senior officers after it was brought to their notice that the victim, RK Bararu, 79, was being approached by some local property dealers for selling his three-storey house.
"Investigators prepared a list of property dealers who had approached Bararu in the recent past. Their statements are being recorded at the local Shakarpur police station," said a source.
Meanwhile, 10 different teams from east district have questioned around 50 persons in the last three days. These people include service providers, tenants, neighbours and relatives of the couple.
Teams from the special staff and anti-auto theft squad of the east district have also been roped in to conduct investigation of electronic evidences. Notably, the killers took away Bararu's mobile phone, his laptop and an internet data card with them after murdering him and his wife Durga Devi, on the first floor of their house.
The couple's throats were slit using a sharp weapon and police are suspecting the involvement of professional killers in the murder.
