Delhi University’s (DU) Centre for Professional and Technical Training — also known as COL — has launched 14 additional industry-related courses after five of the school's previously launched courses were a big hit with students.
After a horde of students enrolled in COL’s four most popular short-term courses — Retail Management, Auto Services Management, Software Application Development and Medical Transcription — walked away with placements, the school has now decided to stress on the media and the tourism industry sectors.
“We believe our students should be equipped with skills to survive in all service-sector based industries. And so we decided to expand our focus on them this academic year onwards," Dr Savita Dutta, Director, COL, said.
The school has launched short-term courses in Mass Communication, TV Journalism and Photography in association with Massco Media for students who want to pursue a career in media.
The school has also launched courses on 2D and 3D animation, Theatre Acting and Presentation as well as Radio Jockeying and TV News Reading in association with RK Film and Media Institute.
For those aspiring for a career in tourism, short-term courses in Travel and Tourism, Airfare and Ticketing and Computerised Reservation Systems (CRS) are on offer. The duration of each course is two to six months, the cost is anywhere between Rs 2,000 and Rs 35,000.
