A day after a Delhi University student was shot dead in Dhaula Kuan, a furniture showroom owner quarrelled with a couple and shot at them near the sector 25-31 crossing here.
According to witnesses, the man, Gajnafar Hussain alias Laddan, got out of his Mahindra Scorpio and shot 36-year-old Meena Hussain three times in the stomach. She was taken to nearby Kailash Hospital in a critical condition.
Laddan also shot at her husband 40-year-old Munnawar Hussain in the waist. "He is out of danger," said doctor Amit Kumar at Kailash Hospital.
Laddan, who runs a shop in Noida's sector 9, was known to the couple.
Police sources said a property dispute and some old differences were said to be the reason behind the shooting. "I left my house at 8.25am with my wife. As my motorcycle crossed sector 25-31 crossing at 8.35am, Laddan's Scorpio overtook me and forced me to halt. He fired at us," said Munnawar.
Eyewitnesses, however, said the couple initially assaulted Laddan which is when he fired in the air and on the ground. After a scuffle, he fired at them.
Wajid Hussain, cousin of the victim, said: "Two years ago too Laddan had shot at Munnawar. We had sorted out the matter and the case was not reported to police."
Laddan, who was arrested from Film City area around 2pm, said the couple attacked him stones and a helmet.
At 2.15pm, Laddan was brought to the police station in blood stained clothes and an injured head. His Scorpio, too, had bloodstains on the steering wheel, driver's seat and doors.
