A joint team of Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) and Faridabad police on Saturday raided over half a dozen premises for illegal use of borewells.
Two such illegal borewells, which were used to pump water for commercial use, were removed while six others were sealed.
"We have sealed six borewells operating on the Yamuna riverbed and removed two other borewells today," said Mukesh Solanki, joint commissioner, MCF.
Solanki said the civic agency had earlier closed operation of over a dozen such borewells operating close to the Yamuna and Agra canal in Palla area of Faridabad.
He said the civic agency was informed a few days ago that some of illegal pumping out of water had begun once again. So a raid was conducted with the help of police.
"We raided several premises in Harkesh Nagar area in Palla, just near Delhi border, and sealed six borewells," he added.
The police have registered cases against owners of two such borewells under sections 379 and 188 of IPC.
A large number of local residents had lodged a strong protest and had protested outside Sarai Kwaja police station a few days ago. They were complaining against illegal use of bore-well to pump out water for commercial gains.
"We had received complaints that tankers full of water from these borewells was being sold in different parts of Delhi," Solanki said.
