Even as one girl child struggles to cope with the trauma of sexual exploitation, another six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her adult neighbour in west Delhi on Sunday evening.
The victim, a labourer’s daughter, was playing outside her residence in Khyala area when the accused lured her to his house in the neighbourhood and forced himself on her around 8:30 pm.
“According to the victim’s statement, the accused, later identified as Shambhu Sah, promised to give her some sweets at his house. He then sexually assaulted her,” said an officer.
After the crime, Sah fled, leaving the victim outside his house. The child walked to her house, crying and howling in pain. When her mother asked her what had happened, the victim narrated the story to her.
Sah, who hails from Bihar, is a rickshaw-puller. “The victim’s parents then approached the local police station. A team rushed her to hospital for medical examination even as another went to Sah’s home to apprehend him,” the officer said.
A case of sexual assault was registered against Sah as soon as the victim’s medical examination confirmed rape. He was arrested later in the night.
“Apart from sexual assault, Sah has been arrested under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old girl allegedly trafficked to Delhi from Jharkhand by a distant relative was rescued from adjacent Gurgaon, the police said.
“Two days ago, we had received a complaint from the victim’s father that his daughter and another girl child from his village had been abducted from their village in Jharkhand,” said Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of police (Crime).
The crime branch claimed that the victim was found to have been ‘bought’ by Sushma and Raju, agents of placement agencies, before being placed as a domestic help at a house in Gurgaon’s sector 45. The accused duo has been arrested.
