A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unknown person at a park in southwest Delhi's Naraina area on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the incident came to light after the victim's parents approached the Naraina police station and filed a complaint. The police are suspecting the role of someone known to the victim.
A senior police officer said the girl lives with her parents in Naraina area.
On Tuesday evening, she was playing outside her home when a person lured her on the pretext of giving her chocolate and took her to a nearby park.
"The miscreant gagged the girl, raped her in the park and fled. The victim somehow reached home and narrated the entire incident to her parents. They rushed her to a nearby hospital where her health started deteriorating. The girl's father also made a call to the police control room," said a police officer.
Asked if they had identified the culprit, the officer said, they had recorded the statement of the victim and were in the process of preparing the sketch of the suspect with the descriptions given by the girl.
"The girl is still in a state of trauma and is being counselled. We believe that the culprit is known to the victim's family. He could either be someone from the neighbourhood or related to the victim," added the officer.
