A south Delhi-based businessman is fighting for his life at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital after being attacked with a sharp weapon by two men whom he tried to stop from misbehaving with his wife.

The incident took place on Thursday night near Talkatora Indoor Stadium, close to the President’s Estate. Mohammad Aslam was heading towards Connaught Place in his Honda City car with his wife and brother-in-law.

His wife asked him to stop the car somewhere as she had to relieve herself.

As Aslam’s wife went to relieve herself, the accused men stopped their vehicle and entered into an argument over urinating in a public place. “Aslam requested the duo not to interfere in their personal affairs and asked them to leave.

However, the accused started misbehaving with Aslam’s wife that resulted in an argument which soon turned ugly.

The accused attacked Aslam with a sharp weapon,” said a police officer, adding Aslam suffered stab wounds in his neck and thigh.

Aslam, who lives in Jamia Nagar, reportedly runs a tour and travel agency.

Police have arrested the accused, identified as one Raj Kumar alias Raju and his friend Mahinder, both residents of Mehram Nagar near IGI Airport.

The duo was travelling in a Maruti Esteem car, police said.

A case under Section 307 (attempt to murder), 341 (wrongful restrain) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), was registered at Chanakyapuri police station against the accused.
