Samajwadi Part on Friday today announced names of candidates for five other Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and asserted that its seat-sharing talks with Congress will reach a "logical conclusion" within a day or two.
"We had already announced candidates for 53 seats and on Friday we decided on five more...Talks of alliance on seat sharing with Congress is ongoing and it will reach its logical conclusion within a day or two," SP General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said.
Announcing the names of the candidates decided during a parliamentary board meeting of the party today, Yadav said S T Hassan will be contesting on the party's ticket from Moradabad, sitting MP Chandrapal Singh Yadav will contest from Jhansi, sitting MLA Durgaprasad Yadav from Azamgarh seat and Daroga Saroj from Lalganj constituency.
Asked if the SP would announce more candidates for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, he said, "Our seats will still increase".
On the question whether Congress would be happy, as they were seeking at least 25 seats from Uttar Pradesh, Yadav said, "We have not touched any Congress seats. In Bihar, Lalu granted just four of the 40 seats to Congress and the party was quite happy."
