The Uttar Pradesh police will set-up a special cell in Greater Noida exclusively for tackling industrial disputes.
"This Industrial cell will be headed by an official of Deputy SP rank. The officers engaged in this cell will solely be responsible for industrial issues and nothing else," Senior Superintendent of Police RK Chaturvedi told PTI.
"Police does not get training to handle industrial disputes which are of very different nature from the normal law and order situations that we are accustomed to handle. We will set this cell by the month end," he added.
Chaturvedi admitted that there were some mistakes in the handling of the Sunday's incident when suspended workers of Graziano Trasmissioni Indian Pvt Ltd during a meeting with the management allegedly killed its CEO Lalit Kishore Choudhary.
"Small mistakes could have happened but whenever they had requested the police force we provided all the help. We were intimated at 11.30 in the morning that workers will be meeting the managers but could not anticipate that it would take such a dangerous turn," he said.
Denying that any police help was requested by the company, Chaturvedi said when he was informed about the situation turning volatile, immediately force was rushed to the spot.
"We have arrested 136 people in this regard. Had we not been on time, how could we have arrested so many people?" he said.
