This is their last hope to get their voices heard. With the Delhi government proposing to trifurcate the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) into three smaller units, the ruling-BJP has called a special House meeting in August to discuss the matter.
Mayor Rajni Abbi said that retired IAS officer K Dharmarajan, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of drafting a policy paper which will highlight the contours of the new Municipal Act for Delhi, will be present in the meeting.
"K Dharmarajan had expressed his desire to meet all the councillors and get their views on the posed trifurcation which is why this special House meeting has been scheduled," said Mayor Rajni Abbi.
The issue of Delhi government withdrawing the annual R120 crore loan for road construction will also be taken up in the meeting. The mayor has sent a letter to the L-G regarding this issue.
