Three persons, including a homeguard, were killed in separate road accidents in the city on Saturday.
In the first accident, 21-year-old Vijay Choudhary, working at a five-star hotel in Delhi, lost his life after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding low-floor DTC bus in south Delhi.
The incident took place around 6.15am near the Moolchand underpass when Choudhary was returning to his Sri Niwaspuri-based house after work.
“Choudhary suffered severe injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” said a police officer.
The bus driver identified as Rakesh was arrested for rash and negligent driving causing death.
In the second incident, a 26-year-old homeguard lost his life while his colleague was critically injured when their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle in the wee hours of Saturday. The accident took place in west Delhi’s Multan Nagar.
The deceased homeguard was identified as Vinay Kumar, a resident of B-block in Sultanpuri. The homeguard who suffered injuries was identified as Mahender, 27.
The victims were posted in central Delhi’s Kamla Market and were returning home after duty when the accident took place, the police said.
A case has been registered at northwest Delhi’s Paschim Vihar police station.
The third accident was reported from east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar area where a truck driver died after his truck overturned on Saturday.
