Sports meet at Vidya Mandir

Vidya Mandir Public School, Faridabad, held its annual sports meet, 'Urja'. The students of Class 9 to Class 11 participated in various sports activities with great enthusiasm. Nikunj Lohia, president, Vidya Mandir Education Society declared the two-day meet open with the release of balloons.

Indira Lohia, director; Harsh Gupta, vice-president and other distinguished guests presided over the function. The event included Rajasthani and Bhangra dance performance, various races and athletic events. This was followed by the prize distribution. State- and national-level achievers of extra-curricular activities were also felicitated. Principal Anand Gupta proposed the vote of thanks.

Vivekanand School, Anand Vihar, celebrated its winter carnival. The fair was inaugurated by Usha Kumari, DDE, East Delhi. The event included various dance performances, joyrides, game stalls, an exhibition and a lucky draw. Chief guest for the occasion was BS Brar, special commissioner of police. Chairman YD Ahuja, manager Pradyumn Ahuja and directors of Vivekanand, Anand Vihar and Preet Vihar, Megha Ahuja and Aprajita Ahuja congratulated the winners and wished them luck.

Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar, celebrated achievers' day to honour the outstanding students in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. The function was presided over by justice (retd.) Jaspal Singh and Satish Sabharwal, energy economist and an alumnus of the school. Speaking on the occasion, principal Vandana Puri congratulated the achievers and appealed to one and all to inculcate the noble qualities of gratitude, goodness and generosity. Students presented a dance drama 'Tatva', which captured the essential elements of all life forms and the instrumental rendition of ‘Sargam to Bhangra’ and Sufi Kalam.

St. Andrews Scots Sr. Sec. School, IP Extension, organised its winter carnival. The event was inaugurated by chief guest DK Mishra, deputy commissioner, revenue, govt of NCT Delhi, guest of honour Dr BC Sabat, senior scientist, ministry of environment, govt of NCT of Delhi and Praveen Kumar, Arjuna Award winner, Rev Father C John of St. Peters Mathoma Church, along with PL Rana, founder principal and other eminent members of the managing committee. Folk, western, semi-classical, contemporary dances and skits by students were part of the cultural bonanza that followed. Dashavatar, a dance choreographed by the Eco Club, and as aesthetically co-ordinated fashion show formed the highlight of the event. The event concluded with the grand prize distribution ceremony.
