Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, hosted a grand exhibition on the occasion of 'The Book Week', which was inaugurated by Rajni Kumar, chairperson, Springdales Education Society, in the presence of school principal Jyoti Bose, the staff, members of the managing committee and students. HT reports.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashish Shah , deputy coordinator, Environment Education Unit Centre for Science and Environment, said, "The best way for the youth to learn about the environment is by doing."

The exhibition showcased the projects that the students had prepared as part of their summer vacation homework.

The Book Week focused on the theme 'Saving the Environment — Our only hope' to promote the importance of preserving our bio-diversity, the need to identify the problems related to the environment and ways to take corrective action. Students participated in a wide range of activities like poster making, poetry writing, quiz etc.

Book stalls put up by various publishers gave students an opportunity to purchase books of their choice and also offered a meeting place for publishers, book sellers and book lovers of all age groups.

Students of IGCSE Grade 10 of GD Goenka World School, Sohna Road, Gurgaon, have done stupendously well in their board examinations. According to the school principal Neeta Bali, 15 students secured 100% marks in English, biology, chemistry, physics, business studies and French.

Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar, organised 'Kalakriti — A Splash of Colour' and Talent 2011. It was a platform to portray the inherent talent and creativity of young artists in the colourful festival. Several schools of Delhi participated in this inter-school event.

Events such as splash of colours, beauty of landscape, nail art, cartoon making, umbrella painting, paper quelling, festoons, etc. made the festival innovative and tapped the ingenuity of students.

Impressed by the creative instincts of the students, the judges motivated the students to explore vistas and avenues that will nurture their versatility and enhance their skills.

Maharaja Aggarsain Adarsh Public School, Pitampura, celebrated its 25 glorious years of achievements at the annual function 'Expressions' recently. Delhi education and transport minister Arvinder Singh and Mangat Ram Singhal, chairman, Delhi Rural Development Board, graced the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honour, respectively.

The programme was invocated by the lighting of lamp, followed by Saraswati Vandna.

The school president Ramphal Gupta addressed the gathering and highlighted the milestones achieved in the past 25 years. The meritorious students were awarded prizes.

The school magazine 'Sukriti' was also released on the occasion. The students performed a ballet 'Eklavya' and the mosaic of Indian folk dances.

The programme was a grand success under the guidance of principal Mukta Mishra and vice-principal Anjana Arora. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Jai Narain Gupta, chairman of the school.
