Stephen’s, JMC join centralised process
NEW DELHI: The minority colleges of Delhi University have agreed to be a part of the university’s centralised admission process.
This means that before students fill form for these colleges they will have to register with DU’s optical mark registration (OMR) form.
The registration process for admission to undergraduate process begins on June 1.
The religious minority colleges of DU are St Stephen’s, Jesus and Mary, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College and Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce.
Once the registration process is over, the colleges will follow their own admission process and give 50% reservation to the reserved minority candidates.
“The students will have to fill in the registration number of the DU central form while filling the college form. So that will serve as the unique ID number of the student which will stay life long,” said a teacher of St Stephen’s College.
Even Jesus and Mary College has made the announcement of the admission process.
“Candidates should first apply at the University of Delhi centralised admission portal, thereafter fill up JMC online admission form giving the registration number provided by DU centralised admission portal,” said a statement from Jesus and Mary.
This time the university wanted these colleges to participate in the process so that it was easier to generate the enrolment number.
“It is the university which is granting the degree to the students of the college so having their database is important,” said Manoj Sinha, principal of Aryabhatta College and member of admission committee.
