Special Task Force on Bihar constituted by Prime Minister on Tuesday submitted its report to the PM on the flood situation in that state and suggested a package of Rs 25,000-30,000 crore for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood hit areas there.
In the five page report, the STF also asked for roping in international financial institutions like World Bank, IMF and Asian Development Bank to collect this money.
It has urged the PM to constitute a consortium of international donors to be coordinated by the Union Finance Ministry.
Jha also suggested that a meeting of the international donors should be called to decide over the mechanism of their financial assistance.
Other recommendations of the STF are immediate Action plan for repair of the breach in East Kosi embankment and reverting the river to its old course, formulating a Bihar Rehabilitation and Development Programme (BRDP), constitution of a high-level central team involving important ministries to monitor rehabilitation and reconstruction work and initiation of high level Indo-Nepal dialogues involving Bihar government to solve the problem.
"I have given a five point recommendation in my report to the PM," Chairman of STF Satish C Jha told PTI after submitting the report.
Jha had earlier carried out a survey of the affected districts on September 11 and 12.
