A cyclonic storm over the Arabian Sea which has stalled the progress of India's monsoon rains has started weakening, a weather department official said on Wednesday.

The June-September monsoon, vital to the health of India's near-trillion-dollar economy, has not moved since it reached Karnataka on May 29.

"It may progress in another two to three days," the Pune-based official of the India Meteorological Department, who did not want to be identified, told Reuters.
