Metro services were disrupted for almost an hour at the Yamuna Bank station. Metro spokespersons attributed the disruption to a “technical failure”.

According to commuters, there was no train available on line 3 (Yamuna Bank – Dwarka) from Yamuna Bank station between 3.30 pm. to 4.30 pm.

“I boarded the metro at about 3.30 pm from Yamuna Bank and it moved only at 4.30 pm,” said Abhimanyu Singh, a media professional, who boards the Metro everyday from Yamuna Bank for Barakhamba Road station.

DMRC officials, however, claim the services were affected between Indraprastha-Yamuna Bank metro stations “for about 22 minutes between 3.48 pm to 4.10 pm.”

Commuters said they were given no information why the train was not moving.

“It was only five minutes before the train moved that an announcement was made.”

While DMRC officials claim short loop services were introduced between Indraprastha to Dwarka Sector 9 for three trains to maintain routine frequency of five minutes on entire Line-3, the disruption had cascading effect on trains for at least three more hours.

“The train took almost 90 minutes, instead of the usual 50, to reach Rajiv Chowk from Dwarka,” said Charu Gupta, who boarded the Metro from Dwarka station at about 5 pm.

“The train I was travelling in halted at Rajendra Place station for 15 minutes on its way to Yamuna Bank. It covered the remaining distance at a very slow speed,” said Vanshika Sahni, student.
