Strike threat looms over Sarojini market, again
Those planning to visit the Sarojini Nagar market in the hope of finding a good bargain may be in for a rude shock all over again. Another strike by traders seems imminent as their differences with the administration are yet to be resolved.

The traders and vendors will meet Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday. Sources said the market might shut down in case the talks with the chief minister fail.
A five-day shutdown of the market earlier this month had shoppers in a spot. The bone of discontent was the New Delhi Municipal Council’s (NDMC) decision to allow 112 new vendors in the market. While the traders were unhappy because the decision could lead to congestion, the vendors recently went to court challenging the policy followed by the NDMC in distributing the licences.
According to the vendors, the NDMC in some cases had given licences to the same people twice. “There are four people in the list who have been given two licences each. This is unfair and the NDMC should come up with a new list,” said a vendor.
