Anita Singh may not be able to walk anymore. The 20-year-old schoolteacher suffered a paralytic attack when she was allegedly thrown from the third floor of a building by her student and his mother in Sarita Vihar area of south Delhi on Saturday.
While the police arrested the 15-year-old boy on Tuesday on charges of attempt to murder, his mother is still absconding. The student’s mother suspected that the teacher was having an affair with her 15-year-old son.
The teacher’s family however, said that Anita was thrown off when she went to ask for the tuition fees.
The incident occurred in Jaitpur area of Sarita Vihar on Saturday afternoon.
“My daughter had just come back from school when her student, who lives next door came to our house. He told her that his mother was calling her and wanted to discuss something,” said Vikram Singh, Anita’s father.
Anita, a primary teacher at Rampali School in Sarita Vihar used to provide tuitions to her neighbour Farhaan (name changed). He is a student of Class VIII at the same school where Anita teaches. Farhaan’s father is a property dealer.
When Anita reached Farhaan’s home his mother started abusing her. She reportedly dragged her to the terrace.
“After reaching the terrace, the mother-son duo started beating her up. She tried to defend herself. but they did not stop. After some time they pushed her from the terrace and she fell on the ground,” said a senior police officer.
Anita is now being treated at Safdarjung Hospital and her legs have been paralysed. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder at the Sarita Vihar police station.
