‘I always wanted to be a cop’

Profession: Sachdeva’s family had a milk business, which was severely affected during the Emergency in 1975. “We lost everything and had to start from the scratch,” he said.

Education: “I was in BCom IInd year when Emergency was declared. I was forced to give up my studies to help my father in his business. I always wanted to become a police officer but that dream was cut short,” said Sachdeva.

Political career: Sachdeva has been with the BJP since its inception in 1977. “When Madan Lal Khurana became the governor of Rajasthan, I was given an opportunity to contest the elections from the Moti Nagar seat during 2003 Assmebly polls,” he said.

Family: Wife Usha is a homemaker. They have twin sons, one is in Khalsa College, the other is doing his engineering. Daughter is pursuing MA economics from Jamia Millia Islamia.

Cars: The Sachdevas have a Honda City and a Toyota Innova.
